Any advice on saving on my air conditioning system in summer?

Category: Air-conditioning

The air conditioning system operates on two important factors which ensure environmental well-being.

  1. Humidity and temperature

With its cooling cycle, the air conditioning unit is able to eliminate the humidity in a room. In a bar or restaurant in summer, the feeling of well-being is affected mostly by the relative humidity, which is why the perception of heat is higher in humid climates.

The explanation lies in the human thermoregulation system.
The body cools down by sweating... i.e. by evaporating water.
If the surrounding environment is saturated with humidity, this process is very difficult and makes it uncomfortable to work, sleep, etc.

With its cooling cycle, the air conditioning unit removes the humidity in the room (which is why water disposal pipes are placed outside) and, by lowering the relative humidity, allows the body to... sweat more easily.

  • The air conditioning system does not have to be on full power, as this could be harmful.
  • We recommend you adjust the air conditioning unit to a temperature which guarantees a difference in temperature between the inside and the outside of just 4-5 degrees less.
  • Avoid opening windows when the air conditioning system is in use.
  • Once the desired temperature has been reached, it is advisable to activate the dehumidification function.
  • Start automatic night programmes which reduce the power progressively near the Set-point or set temperature value.
  • For your well-being, it is important to remember that the ideal humidity value varies between 45 and 65% and specific instruments (hygrometer) exist to measure it.
  • Follow the use and maintenance instructions supplied with the air conditioning system.
  • It is important to clean the air conditioning unit filters regularly to avoid excessive consumption levels, and the reproduction and proliferation of any bacteria or other impurities which the dirty filter cannot retain anymore.

The CO (Unical Certified Operator) or Unical Installer is able to assess the most appropriate installation indoors to avoid direct gusts of cold air onto the user.

Outside, to prevent direct exposure to sunlight from reducing the efficiency and output of the appliance,
it is advisable to opt for Inverter units with a heat pump. (Between seasons, they may be a valid alternative for your heating requirements instead of the boiler).

Turn off the air conditioning unit before you leave a room, to avoid excessive temperature differences
